Why are my art classes different?

In my art classes I usually have 8 or less students and each person gets one on one instruction and help.  I demonstrate the art techniques & skills I am teaching.  Sometimes we are all working on the same project and sometimes each person is working on a unique subject they brought along or picked from sample projects at my studio.

I custom design each lesson and project to each student.  I take into consideration their age, skill level, experience, past art samples, and what they need to learn next.  I show them samples of my art.  I tell each student what they are doing correctly and specifically what they need to do to change their art projects to improve.

From the time you are a toddler you are told to think the art you make is special and no one can alter it.  But, some of my students enjoy the conversations that we have on paper, drawing on the same page, or me showing a technique on a separate page if they do not want me to draw on their paper.  I do this in a way that highlights the fun of creating art.  During the Renaissance, an artist would be apprenticed to a more experienced art master.  They would learn hands on, how to create art with specific techniques and learn skills.  You do not get this kind of training in most art classes.  In school, I would get a letter grade on my art projects, but the teachers had little time to show 30 some kids what they did right and what they needed to erase and do a different way.

Some of my students go on to start art businesses right out of High School and some go on to attend colleges and art schools with majors in Graphic Design, Commercial Art, Animation, Product Design, Illustration, Architect, Art Licensing (art onto products), Costume Design, Set Design, etc.

I have a Bachelor of Arts from Millersville University, with a concentration in Illustration and Graphic Design and a minor in Technical Drawing & Drafting.  I started my own art studio business while a Junior in High School.  I have been a professional artist for over 32 years.  I have done commercial art for various business, and custom art portraits of homes, people and pets for private clients.

I come from a family of artists who paint & draw and invent things.  My Mother uses oil paints and colored pencils, my Sister uses oil paints, ceramics, ink, & crafts etc.  My Father and Brother at times invented new ways to make  & build things.  My Husband does sketches and his Father enjoyed drawing people & nature.   Art is an important outlet for expression and relaxation.  Creating art also helps you communicate your ideas better to others.

Contact me if you would like more information about my art classes for kids, teens or adults.  I also have art workshops, I can lecture or demonstrated art at your event with live art demos,  art parties, paint & sip parties, birthday parties, etc.  Crystal Dull Call/Text 717-419-9566  www.CrystalDull.com  Email me from contact page.
